BOUGAIN® 6-8-10 Plus Minors

Thank you for making BOUGAIN® the best-selling bougainvillea fertilizer in the country!

BouGain Bougainvillea FertilizerNot only is BOUGAIN® formulated to dramatically increase blooms, it addresses the bougainvillea’s Achilles heel – their thin and brittle root system. Ten years of research and testing led to perfecting our specialty plant food that dramatically increases blooms, strengthens roots, increases color vibrancy in both foliage and bracts, and produces an all-over healthy bougainvillea.

We focused on the customer, listening to the issues and challenges of both the weekend gardener and professional landscaper, and met those concerns with this quick-release, easy to use fertilizer that is unmatched in quality and functionality. Moreover, our landscape customers use it when installing bougainvillea, but garden centers love our colorful 2 lb. jars and 10 lb. bags for their retail stores as well.

10 Things Bougainvillea Plant Lovers Should Know

If you love the thought of growing bougainvillea but don’t have much luck in keeping them alive, here are a few handy things to help you out:

  1. Your bougainvillea plants need a minimum of 6 hours of full sun. Love the different, vibrant colors of this plant when it finally flowers? Well, you won’t be able to see it in full bloom if it isn’t exposed to plenty of sun. So if you want to see it in all its glory, keep the plant out from under the shade.
  2. When planting use a quick draining soil. And you can leave your bougainvillea plants in their containers, just slice the bottom of the pot off and leave the sides on to keep the root ball nice and tight.
  3. redundantWhen it comes to temperature, these plants are pretty tough.. If the thermometer is going to drop under 40 degrees, use a sheet and some Christmas lights to keep your plants cozy.
  4. Don’t overwater your bougainvillea plants. Wait until the soil dries before you water it again. Also, too much water will keep your plant from flowering, warns SFGate.
  5. Use a bougainvillea fertilizer once a month. Don’t over fertilize. Read package label and apply according to plant size. Pest control is also an important part of bougainvillea plant care. So you should always be on the lookout for caterpillars, mites and aphids. Learn how to take care of these pests the safest way possible. So as soon as you find any of these in your plants, you’ll know what to do to dispose of them as quickly as possible, before they snack their way through your plants.
  6. Make sure the area beneath your plants have zero weeds as well as grass too.
  7. Bougainvillea plants have thorns. So as a safety precaution, always wear thick, garden gloves when you’re pruning. That way, you won’t have to end up with a lot of scratches on your hands.

Bougainvillea plants are one of the most common garden plants out there because they’re hardy and such a glorious sight to behold when they’re in full bloom. If you’re looking for a touch of color in your driveway or garden, this one should fit the bill quite nicely.
